What’s good? It’s Katherine.

I don’t like to take myself too seriously. The hero section of this site is one of the few times I’ve ever called myself a photographer; I typically brush it off as just a side hobby. But I really do love it! I don’t know all the technical aspects of it; yes, I know what aperture is and what a 35mm lens does, but I’ve never been particularly interested in the specs of the gear and whatnot. I take photos to capture moments, beautify them in Lightroom, and once in a while, use them in my graphic designs.

Some context: I’m a product designer about to graduate from Cornell University, ready to enter the corporate world where I hope to keep creating thoughtful, human-centered work. While design is what I do professionally, photography has always been my creative outlet. As someone who can’t draw and has no formal background in art or design, it’s the one place where I feel like I can actually make something beautiful…

My favorite scenes are big landscapes with people living among them. I love the juxtaposition between civilization and nature. I also love playing with sunlight and the way my Pro Mist filter softens it. The drive-thru of a McDonald’s can be strikingly beautiful if the lighting is right and you love the people you’re with (this comes from firsthand experience!).

Anyway, I made this website as an archive for myself to display my most beloved photos. Aside from the dozens on this site, there remain thousands on my drive, and probably many more to come. Thank you for visiting and reading.
